A conversation with Oliver

Oliver:  Mommy, you should put another baby in your tummy.
Me:  Oh really.
Oliver:  Ya, it can be a boy.  We can name him... Big Boy.  We would be friends!
Me:  How exactly should Mommy go about getting a baby in her tummy.  I don't think Daddy is very fond of the idea.
Oliver:  Maybe you should ask Jesus.
I love the simple faith of children.  If you want something to happen, just ask Jesus!

Funny Story:
The other day Oliver was in the bathroom going poopie while I was doing the dishes.  I turned off the water and hear Oliver say "Oh Hazel, that so nice!"  I walked in the bathroom to find Hazel wiping Oliver's bum for him!  I couldn't help but laugh.  Hazel is such a little mommy.  Always looking out for her brother.  She would have made an awesome big sister.

I am so glad they have each other
Hazel wanted to swim with the fish.  Hanging her over the railing was a compromise.
Playing in the Tropical Dome
 Desert Dome
Eating like a big girl.  No more baby tray and spoon feeding!
They always play so nice together.  I'm lucky they don't bite and hit each other like a lot of siblings do (at least not yet)
I love my babies.  I am one lucky mommy.

Surf Club quilt

It's finally done!  I have been working on this forever!  I'm really happy with the way it turned out.  I did change a few things from the original pattern.  The Octopus at the bottom is my own design and I think it's pretty cute.  I chose 06 and 18 for the kids birthdays.  I almost did the years they were born but I quickly realized I would be putting 9 11 on the quilt and that's just depressing. Sorry it's so wrinkly, the kids were snuggling under it before I stole it away from them for a quick picture.

Ok, just one more post this year

Baby got back!!  I think we have been in Milwaukee too long, Hazel is getting some serious ghetto booty!
Hazel not only inherited mommy's booty, she also got mommy incessant thirst.  If it's not my Diet Coke (Waawaa as she calls it) it's the bath water.
I just love this smile.  Such a happy little guy.
As you can imagine, I got to mop the floor after this.
Hazel loves her new tutu skirt almost as much as she loves her Daddy.... almost.
I can't believe what a big girl she has grown into!  I love her unique personality.  One minute she can be playing in the dirt or throwing the ball with Oliver, the next she can put on a tutu and be a princess.  So well rounded, just like her booty.

Book Review 2012

It's been a great year for books!  I have been on a hot streak, seriously, just about every book I read this year was awesome!  Here are the awards.  Drum roll please....

Most unexpected awesome book of the year:  Tell the Wolves I'm Home
I hadn't heard much about this book ahead of time, all I knew was that the cover was awesome and it was about the AIDS scare back in the 80's.  As it turns out, it was less about AIDS and more about coming of age and finding love in unexpected places.  Honest and beautifully executed.

Most disappointing book:  Shadow of Night
This was book number two in the All Souls Trilogy.  Where A Discovery of Witches was refreshing and intellectual, Shadow of Night was long (nearly 600 pages), boring, and stuffed to the brim with endless name dropping.  It felt like the author wanted to prove that she personally knew every famous person that has ever lived.  Shakespeare, Queen Elizabeth, Sir Walter Raleigh etc.  I'm still planning on reading book #3 in hopes that it has some redeeming qualities to make up for this drag of a book.

Favorite Book of 2012:  The Fault in our Stars
This book was sad, sweet and real.  I read it when I was having a particularly difficult time with life and it helped lift my soul.  I am amazed that the author could find such a perfect balance between love, life and comedy in a book that is essentially about death.  Just perfect!

Most Anticipated Book for 2013:  Clockwork Princess
I am so excited for this book to come out in March!  Happy Birthday to me!  This is book 3 in the Clockwork series.  It's set in Victorian London and is the prequel to The Mortal Instruments (I have read and loved all 5).  I will be sure to give a prompt review come March!

Books of 2012:
1. Clockwork Prince
2. Crossed
3. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo
4. The City of Lost Souls
5. The Night Circus
6. Divergent
7. A Discovery of Witches
8. Insurgent
9. Shadow of night
10. Divergent

Two weeks of the sniffles Wheatley style

The last two weeks have been rough here at the Wheatley house.  The kiddos have been plagued with sniffles, boogies and coughs.  Since we haven't got out much Matt and I have had to devise creative ways to keep everyone happy.
Have you ever had a day like this lol?
This is the box that the kids Christmas present came in, but I'm pretty sure the box was more fun anyway.
I can't for the life of me figure out how germs get spread so easily from child to child.
We played homeless baby.  Hazel thought it was awesome!
I forgot to wrap her buba in a brown paper bag. Darn it!
Notice the super ugly blanket the kids are snuggling under?  A few weeks ago I was looking at fabric on line and Hazel saw this peach flannel sheep fabric and went bonkers.  "Baaaaa!  Baaaaa!"  She kept poking the screen until I caved and ordered 1 1/2 yards of the great peach disaster.  The kids love it.
While Hazel was sick she ate nothing but Oranges.  Seriously, she ate 3 in one sitting!
This is what Matt like to call the iparent.
 Scary but cute.
Hazel got an early Christmas present.  We call them her dancing boots.  She loves to wear them and every time she puts them on she does a little dance and I sing "My name is Hazel, I like to dance!" (from Yo Gaba Gaba)
 What a good daddy
This is the apron I made for Miss Hazel to go with her kitchen we got her for Christmas.  She wont wear it but hopefully she will want to when she gets a little older.  I think it's pretty darn cute.

A little bit of everything...

Miss Hazel going for a wild ride in her riding boots

I guess they got sick of me taking pictures of them
She loves her books and her sheep (baa) from aunt Diane
 Playing with daddy

I love this face
Ya, this doesn't scare mommy one bit

Oliver put his giant elephant on his head and ran around pouncing on us.  It was hilarious.
 Oli the elephant
He gave hugs too
 My little partners in crime.
I love my kids more than words can express.  I am so grateful to have them in my life and I am blessed to be able to spend every day with them.
